The Austrian Patent Office offers startups the possibility to file provisional patent applications. Contrary to a regular patent application, the official fees for a provisional patent application are reduced to just 50 Euro.
A provisional patent application will neither be examined, nor published – however, it secures the internationally valid priority day of your invention and can be used as evidence that the invention was conceived by you.
Within the priority year, you can upgrade your provisional patent application into a regular and formally correct Austrian, European or International patent application.
